» Weekly update - 09.07.10
Hey guys, been a while since the last update, and we apologise, but there isn't much news atm
» JCOVE Lite UpdatesEvents:
I've decided to launch another Event to test the water, if it doesn't go well I'll host another one, if that doesn't go well then we'll see
The first mission will be giving medical aid to a Downed helicopter crew, while fighting off the Insurgents. The second mission will be a small group of elite Russian forces must infiltrate an enemy base at night (Deploying from a Helicopter), plant some explosive charges on a motorpool, destroy the Vehicles and ex filtrate. Both will be followed by playing some other missions!
To get you more Interested, here's a video of an Event I held called "Operation FSG Tower":
To keep an eye on what events will be running each week, visit these forums:
http://www.jcove-lite.co.uk/forumdis...events-34.html
Also remember that you are free to host your own un-official events, just leave off the Pre-Fix so people know it's unofficial, you can use the template - which will make it clear when your event will be hosted etc.
TeamSpeak 3
The Team Speak 3 server is down, the server files need updating and both Admins (Gaz & Craig) are away with real-life military commitments, for now we do have an old channel on Project Reality's mumble. You'll have to download PR's mumble software here

» Weekly update - 28.02.10
As promised, here is another update for you. It is a lot smaller than the previous one. However, the last update was late by a few weeks so it needed to catch up quite a bit!
» JCOVE Lite Updates
The community is still continously growing with 2843 members as of this post. It's great to see people are still signing up and playing JCOVE.Tunngle
I will just like to remind people the best way to play online. With the better features it has, we are now using Tunngle. Feel free to read my little guide I wrote out (with images) to help get you going. Feel free to post on the forum if you are having issues. If there is anyone still using Hamachi I really recommend you move into Tunngle so that you can join the JCOVE network and play with others.

Craig is looking for good ARMA 2 Mission Makers and/or Scripters who would be interested to work in what may become a large development team. It's not related to JCOVE however the editing side of the game engine both ARMA2 and JCOVE use are very similar, so there maybe some people who are interested. » Weekly update - 17.02.10
You may have noticed that Gaz wrote the previous update with the intention of making new updates weekly. However, there has been a large amount of interest in JCOVE Lite and has meant the staff are working around the clock to get things going smoothly. So, to ease the pressure on Gaz and the team to keep you updated you now have Jason (that's me!) updating you with the weekly updates.
» General Information
As of this post, we have 2,310 members registered to our website. jcove-lite.co.uk was only made public at the start of this month and we can already see how popular it has become. We thank you for your support, all of which makes our effort worthwhile.
» JCOVE Lite Updates
It's been a while since the previous update and a lot has happened (and is still happening) behind the scenes.
Many members of the community have been playing 'online' together using the free software Hamachi. Although this works, there are still two main limitations we all face. The first is the lack of a dedicated server with the JCOVE Lite release, requiring the members to host the server as they play. The second is the imposed limitation of only allowing up to 8 human players per server.Dedicated Server
At the moment discussion has been made with BIA of which is still on-going. We haven't had a definiate no yet, so fingers crossed a solution can be made to improve the quality of playing with others in multiplayer.
8 Player Limitation
The JCOVE Lite Staff have also spoke to BIA regarding the maximum number of players we are allowed and they have informed us that they will not be increasing the slots greater than 8 players. This is due to the licence that has been agreed upon for having the free, lighter version of VBS2. Although this may seem disapointing for some, it needs to be understood that VBS2 is a commercial product.
Afghanistan themed map
Something else that is currently in discussion with BIA is the possibility of getting a new map, themed around the landscape of Afghanistan. This will be an additional map on top of the current two we already have. Not much else can be said at this stage but we'll keep you updated.
Alternative to Hamachi
We've been using Hamachi so far to connect players together, however we are looking at a new solution - Tunngle. This allows up to 255 people to be in the network, also allowing people to find us easier using the built in network browser. We have been approved our own JCOVE Lite network; of which you can find under the Tactical Shooter category.
» Missions
The community here have been working hard getting new missions available, allowing for extra variety and fun within JCOVE Lite. Herbiie, W0lle and Dead3yez have worked on many missions recently, in fact too many to post here. You can see all of the submitted and accepted missions on our forum.
